Dear All Sorry it's been long in the making, but uni has been a bit of a hard slog this term so far. Oh could u post it to the PCBH list too? Chapter 28... ************************** Wednesday 23rd November Simpkins started pushing the women out of the door towards a waiting van. He had already bundled the nurse in and was on his way back for Bobbie when he heard a voice from the door. "Drop it." the voice was female. Simpkins turned round slowly and a shot went off hitting the wall above his head. Slowly he lowered the gun. The woman walked cautiously over to where he stood and handcuffed him where he was. Reb looked up and recognised the woman. "Winnie!" she exclaimed. "I thought you'd be finished with us..." "I don't let my mates down..., anyway enough talking, let's get out of here! The police are pretty hot on our tail I think." Reb got to her feet, Winnie unbound her and Bobbie's ties while Simpkins spat on the ground. "You won't get away with this you bitch" "Watch me..." 10.30am Laundry Judy brought the press down with a loud bang. There was a lot of tension in the air today, Bev Baker was folding sheets next to Alanna, an evil expression on her face. She kept glancing at Judy. There had been no other incidents since Dot Farrow's demise last week, but Judy felt sure she was up to something. The silence was broken as Lurch brought the skip in with a huge grin on her face. "What you looking so pleased about?" Judy asked her. "Your mate Desmond is back.. and guess who else..." "Well go on!" "Officer Rogers!" Lurch exclaimed to the astonishment of the others. "How do you know this?" "Overheard a couple of officers in the staffroom didn't I?" "Well what on earth has Officer Rogers done?" Pixie asked. "How the hell should I know?" Baker suddenly spoke "If she was an officer here, we ought to let her know what we think of her." Lurch nodded her approval. "No!" said Judy. Alanna studied the older woman. She evidently had a soft spot for this former officer. She wondered why. But whatever Judy said wasn't going to stop Baker or Jenkins. Baker herself was scheming to get put on tray duty; she had a personal score to settle with Rogers. 10.45 Visiting room Heather was in a meeting with her solicitor. Apart from the comment from Joan the rest of the induction process had passed with little incident. Her solicitor had good news too. The bail application had gone through so she should be out within a day. "What do you think my chances are at the trial?" "We've got a pretty good case. I mean it wasn't premeditated, and you attcked your victim to save another person. You didn't even mean to kill him." "Is Dennis going to see me?" The solicitor looked grave. "Dennis didn't turn up at Wentworth this morning. We can't get in touch with him, it's a bit of a mystery where he could have got to." Heather frowned. "I..I don't know where he could be.." This truly troubled her. 11am Winnie and the other 3 women got out of Winnie's van.. Reb pushed Simpkins out and they made their way into a convenient log cabin in the middle of some woods. Simpkins had been blindfolded for the journey. "So what we do now?" asked Reb "I'm off to get supplies, you three just stay tight here." "What about him?" asked Bobbie. Winnie handed a gun to Reb, "don't you dare kill him til I get back." She left and the women looked at each other. "What do we do now?" asked the nurse through tears. She had taken almost all she could take. Reb shrugged. "We wait." 11.30am Lurch had sneaked into her cell even though she was meant to be on skip duty. She was surprised to see Edna Pearson sitting on her bed. "What do you think you're doing?" she shouted. A laugh at the door alerted her to Baker. "Just come to offer you some advice.." she said as she raised the stick she was carrying. "Hey what's going on here?" Alanna's voice said from the doorway. Alanna had followed Baker out of the laundry as she had been acting suspiciously. Baker turned round and Lurch sighed with relief. "Fool!" Baker snapped and skulked off down the corridor. Alanna looked at Edna, "Care to explain?" she said. Edna gave her a scowl and scuttled out. "You'd better be more careful" Alanna warned Alice. 12pm The women made their way to the dining room. Abusive new prisoner Briggs pushed her way past Alanna in the dining room queue. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" she asked. "What's it look like?" Briggs snorted. Alanna gave Briggs a hard shove, Briggs turned round and lashed Alanna across the face. "What the hell is going on there?" Joan shouted from the door. "Briggs, Thomas, your both on extra cleaning duties!" The women sighed. 12.30pm Heather heard the gates to solitary being unlocked. Lunchtime she thought. She was unprepared for the sight of Baker bringing in her meal tray accompanied by Officer Radcliffe. She had read the newspaper reports about her. "Enjoy your meal" Bev said simply. "No talking!" said Radcliffe and led Baker out, giving Heather a sympathetic glance before closing the door. Heather pushed the tray away from her, she wasn't going to touch it. And where the hell was Dennis? 1.30pm Reb had spent about half an hour punching and taunting Simpkins when Louise let out a scream. "No!!!!" she yelled. "Stop it, stop it!" "Don't you want this piece of scum to suffer?" Reb asked. "All I care about is getting home to my husband and daughter..." she murmured. Bobbie looked at Louise with sympathy. She regretted ever getting her involved in all this. She was in a pretty bad way, having suffered terribly at the hands of Simpkins. "I wish we could let you go.." she sighed. "We're doing nothing until Winnie gets back." Reb said stubbornly. 2pm There was a knock on Steve Smythe's office and Patrick Dunlop led Shirley Victor in. "You can leave us now Patrick" said Steve. Patrick grinned and left. "I've missed you!" said Shirley, and in seconds Steve had her in his arms and they were kissing. "Shirley, I love you..." Steve said. "Better lock the door, we don't wanna get interrupted. Steve grinned. "I've got a better idea. How would you like to be sent to isolation?" Shirley said "I can't think of anything better..." 2.30pm Inspector Grace's phone rang. "Grace" "If you want to know where Kean and Mitchell are then go to Acrehead Forest on the Outer Ring Road, by the Ilsa River. There's a little log cabin about half a mile up..." 3pm Laundry The women paused as Joan marched in looking particularly annoyed. As Joan nudged past Pixie she dropped the sheets she was carrying. "You idiot Mason, you're on a charge!" Alanna spoke up, "Just wait a minute, you bumped into her!" Joan whirled and stared at Heather. "So troublemaker eh? You've just lost your buy-up!" rage built up inside Alanna against this woman who seemed to walk over everyone and not care for those she hurt. "You can't do that!" "Want it increased to 2 weeks loss?" Joan laughed and she walked out. Bitch, Alanna thought. "We have to get her somehow." "We've tried," Judy sighed, "There's nothing we can do." "Well maybe you lot have tried, but I'm new here and I'm going to my best to get rid of her," Alanna resolved. The other women just sighed at her. 3.30pm Meg made a quick unofficial visit to Myra in solitary. "You fool," she said, "You could have been sent to Blackmoor for this!" Myra looked at her, "My children," is all she could mumble. Meg sighed, "You get back on form, there's work to be done." 4pm "Where the hell is that woman?" Reb screamed. They had been waiting hours for her. "Calm down," Bobbie implored. "No I won't!" she said half crazed with anger. She looked at Simpkins, "I should kill you now while I've got the chance! Get her out of here," Reb indicated Louise. Bobbie took her through to a smaller room at the back, Louise wept the entire time, but Bobbie went back to check on Reb. She had the gun pointed at Simpkins head, he was sweating. "No Reb" "Shut up, shut up! You killed my mother, you bastard, you'll die for it I swear!" The door opened suddenly and Reb turned round. Inspector Grace and 2 other officers stood there guns pointed at Reb. "Drop the gun Kean." "No!" she spat. "Reb, drop it" implored Bobbie. Reb looked from Simpkins to the police. And decided...
